An excellent choice for cadets, fieldcraft, hiking, camping, fishing, outdoor work or simply as a hard-wearing waterproof jacket.

Production details can vary slightly between manufacturers and issue versions.

Condition – Grade 1

Grade 1 items are good used, fully serviceable military surplus.

Normal signs of previous use can include:

  • minor fading;
  • light cosmetic marks;
  • evidence of previous laundering;
  • service or ownership markings;
  • minor wear to fastenings; and
  • slight variation in colour between individual jackets.

Grade 1 jackets should have no major holes or damage affecting normal wear.

As these are previously issued waterproof garments, grading reflects their overall physical condition and serviceability rather than a guarantee of factory-new waterproof performance.

Sizing

British military waterproof jackets normally use metric sizing such as:

180/104

  • 180 = intended wearer height in centimetres
  • 104 = intended chest measurement in centimetres

These are outer garments and are designed with allowance for clothing and layers underneath, so they will generally fit more generously than an equivalent civilian jacket.

Approximate Chest Guide

88 cm — 34–35"
96 cm — 37–38"
104 cm — 40–41"
112 cm — 43–44"
120 cm — 46–47"
128 cm — 50"

Where possible, we recommend choosing using the original military measurements rather than relying solely on an S/M/L conversion.
